It All Started with a Great Bed
It sounds like a classic modern fairytale, but it started with a simple hotel stay.
Back in 2014, our founders—and husband-and-wife duo—Rich and Vicki Fulop checked into a hotel in Las Vegas. After a long flight, they slipped into the bed and had a revelation: These are the most comfortable sheets we’ve ever felt.
Naturally, they wanted to bring that feeling home. But when they checked the price tag in the lobby shop, reality hit hard—$800 for a single set of luxury sheets.
Frustrated by an outdated, bloated retail system that heavily marked up prices through middlemen, distributors, and unnecessary labels, Rich and Vicki asked a rebellious question: Why does luxury home comfort have to cost a fortune?
With zero background in textiles but an obsession with great design and fair pricing, they decided to make the sheets themselves. They packed up, did a year of global factory research, and launched Brooklinen from their apartment in Brooklyn, New York.
